Pergola Accessory
Glass door systems for complete outdoor rooms.
RKOVE plans sliding, bi-fold and thermal-break aluminum glass door systems as part of the pergola enclosure - helping luxury patios, resorts, restaurants and rooftops feel more protected, refined and usable.
From roof to room
Clients are not buying a door. They are creating a new space.
A pergola glass door system must work with the frame, posts, ground, drainage, glass, hardware and expected use of the space. The right choice depends on whether the customer wants maximum opening, stronger sealing, easier installation, better thermal comfort or a more architectural enclosure.
2.4-4.8 m openings
Bi-fold glass doors
Maximum opening and export-friendly installation
Best when the client wants flexible indoor-outdoor flow and easier site tolerance.
2.4-6 m openings
Sliding glass doors
Better sealing and large panoramic panels
Best when air-tightness, weather comfort and professional installation are priorities.
Up to about 2.4 m openings
Hinged glass doors
Strong sealing for smaller access points
Best for side access doors, smaller bays and projects with precise installation teams.
Project-specific
Thermal-break systems
Improved comfort for four-season outdoor rooms
Best for colder, hotter or energy-conscious markets where frame insulation matters.
System layers
A serious glass door is a complete enclosure system.
Aluminum frame
6063-T5 / 6063-T6 aluminum, with recommended wall thickness of at least 2.2 mm for serious outdoor applications.
Safety glass
Tempered laminated glass is the baseline direction. Ordinary single float glass should not be used for pergola door systems.
Hardware
Outdoor-facing hinges, tracks, screws, rollers and lock points should use SUS304 stainless steel direction where exposed.
Sealing
EPDM sealing strips and weather-resistant sealant help manage wind, rain and seasonal movement.
Drainage
The threshold and frame should include planned drainage paths, exterior fall and accessible weep holes.
Installation interface
The door system must connect with the pergola posts and ground condition as a planned enclosure, not as a loose add-on.
Glass and performance
Safety first, comfort second, view third.
For outdoor pergola doors, ordinary single glass is not the right baseline. RKOVE planning starts with tempered laminated safety glass, then reviews Low-E, insulated glass and panel size according to project comfort and exposure.

6 mm + 1.52 PVB + 6 mm tempered laminated glass
Safety-first projects and standard pergola enclosure planning.
Comfort upgrade
5 mm Low-E + 12A + 6 mm + 1.52 PVB + 6 mm
Projects that need safety, insulation and heat-radiation control.
Large panel direction
8 mm + 1.52 PVB + 8 mm
Larger glass panels and more demanding wind or impact expectations.
Oversized review
10 mm + 2.28 PVB + 10 mm or triple laminated direction
Very large panels that require project-specific structural review.
Wind pressure
Start from at least 3.0 kPa direction; coastal, rooftop or storm-exposed projects require higher review.
Water tightness
Use 350 Pa as a practical reference direction for serious outdoor door conversations.
Air tightness
Level 6 direction helps explain why glass doors can feel more room-like than open side screens.
Sound reduction
30 dB direction can support quieter dining, lounge or residential spaces.
Thermal comfort
Low-E insulated laminated glass can target U-value / K-value direction around 2.0 W/(m²·K), depending on final system.
Movement gaps
Glass and aluminum expand differently; 6-8 mm glass clearance and elastic sealing should be planned.
Applications
Where pergola glass doors make sense.
Luxury villas
Create a more room-like terrace for dining, reading, entertaining or year-round outdoor living.
Restaurants
Improve comfort while keeping patio seating visually open and premium.
Resorts and hotels
Turn pergola cabanas, lounges and terraces into more flexible guest spaces.
Rooftop terraces
Add wind comfort and side protection where exposure is stronger.
Poolside rooms
Balance open views with wind, rain and evening comfort.
Showrooms
Demonstrate how RKOVE pergolas can become complete outdoor living systems, not just roof products.
Are glass doors better than ZIP Screens?
They solve different problems. Glass doors create a more enclosed, room-like space with stronger sealing, while ZIP Screens are lighter, flexible and better for breathable shade, privacy and insect reduction.
Which door type is easiest for export projects?
Bi-fold glass doors are often the easiest direction because they tolerate site variation better and do not always require a precision pre-embedded bottom track.
What glass should be used for pergola doors?
RKOVE recommends tempered laminated safety glass as the baseline. For comfort, Low-E insulated laminated glass can be reviewed.
Can one pergola use both glass doors and ZIP Screens?
Yes, but normally not on the same side. Each side should have one clear enclosure strategy: ZIP Screen, glass door or aluminum louver wall.
Do glass door systems require professional installation?
Sliding and thermal-break systems especially require careful installation. Bi-fold systems can be more installation-tolerant, but final installation should still follow RKOVE project guidance.
